gnomey333
I was just wondering how often I should reboot the FM Server. Anybody know? Thanx.
Kurt Knippel
We restart our servers daily, but this is mostly due to backup issues, where we want all of our server disconnected from the file server so that no one has open files, or any of the files are being modified. Anatoli
On what platform? On Windows NT or W2K always comes some kind of maintenance or shifts, before the machine gets tired. I would do it as precaution in 3-4 months.
cmartin
I reboot our Windows NT server, which runs FM Server (dedicated) once a week. There is no real reason for this other than "It can't hurt!"
Kurt Knippel
This is the same reason why we do the nightly shutdown. It is not necessary for our backup purposes, but why not.
dkemme
I reboot my G4 OSX machine serving only when required for hardware or software maintenance, sometimes as long as three or four months. How about disk fragmentation, how many use a disk repair program to reduce fragmentation?
