Mark Appleby Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 I am having trouble printing my euro symbols on my printer. This has not happened before but now I get a Dot instead of the currency symbol. Has anybody any suggestions?
Mark Appleby Posted November 27, 2002 Author Posted November 27, 2002 Yes, It is a standard Arial or Times New Roman font. Also appears on screen, just not on the printed copy. I have just installed a new win2000 peer to peer to a win98 machine(this is the machine with filemaker being used), The printer is a HP inkjet which is attatched to the win2000 unit. I have absolutely no idea why this culd be happening.
Mark Appleby Posted November 27, 2002 Author Posted November 27, 2002 I have solved the problem, I had the printer set up as post script but when I changed back to its original drivers it seems to work fine. Why would post script not work?
BobWeaver Posted November 28, 2002 Posted November 28, 2002 Don't know about Windows Postscript drivers, but on Mac, there is a default option called "Substitute fonts" that replaces any fonts that are not in the factory installed font set in your printer. So, Arial may be replaced with Helvetica and Times New Roman may be replaced with Times. Look for this option in the printer setup and turn it off.
Vaughan Posted November 28, 2002 Posted November 28, 2002 Ahhh, yes that would do it. If the printer was a few years old it's internal fonts would not include the Euro symbol. But substituting fonts would replace them. I reckon that's it Bob!
