Newbies jeremy_stern Posted January 27, 2001 Newbies Posted January 27, 2001 Hi, I have a purchase order file with a related line items file associated with it. Offline, I view the line items on the purchase order form through a portal. When I view the file on the web I do not see any of the line items (portal records), just the records on the purchase order itself. Is there a way to view the actual purchase order including the line items. Thank you very much for your help. Jeremy
Newbies jeremy_stern Posted January 27, 2001 Author Newbies Posted January 27, 2001 Hi Anatoli, Sorry to be so dumb, but I am not using any CDML code. I just enabled the web companion on the files and configured it with whatever options were available. What should I be doing to get it to work properly? Thanks for replying. Jeremy
Anatoli Posted January 27, 2001 Posted January 27, 2001 Jeremy Sorry, I've never used that. I am using custom publishing only. Anyone else with tip?
Jeff Abraham Posted January 29, 2001 Posted January 29, 2001 Hi, I'm viewing portals on the web but I develop FileMaker/HTML pages using Lasso. Instant publishing in FileMaker is very limited. Check out http://www.blueworld.com on Lasso products. Jeff
Newbies jeremy_stern Posted January 29, 2001 Author Newbies Posted January 29, 2001 Thanks a lot, Jeff. I'll check it out. Jeremy
sfsmith Posted February 1, 2001 Posted February 1, 2001 I thought I read that neither instant web publishing nor CDML allowed you to use portals in your web interface.
Newbies jeremy_stern Posted February 1, 2001 Author Newbies Posted February 1, 2001 I checked out Lasso and thought I would try to save the $500! I would think there must be some simple way using the native Filemaker tools to view the portal records. Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot. Jeremy
Keith M. Davie Posted February 2, 2001 Posted February 2, 2001 Your choices are either write your own html and embed the cdml tags accordingly (learning curve #1) or learn Lasso and whatever other tools you might need, like a html editor tool (learning curve #2). Another choice is to abandon FileMaker, learn how to run a different database, learn html, learn cgi (learning curve #3). The other choice is to hire a FileMaker Pro developer and have that person do the work. Peace Keith M. Davie

Newbies jeremy_stern Posted February 4, 2001 Author Newbies Posted February 4, 2001 Thanks, Anatoli. I will try to do it myself, but thanks for making me laugh. You will be first on my list if I can't figure it out on my own. Jeremy
