How do I set my screens to 15" monitor only?

Featured Replies

The database I am designing is set up for a 15" monitor. Meaning that all of my layouts are set up that way. So if someone has a 17" monitor or larger, the layout stay at 15".

I appreciate your help.

There are there now way to tell FMP to size a window. What you can do is use Window zoom on Mac and window maximize on Windows. In Mac you will get a window that is equal to your layout size and in Windows can you resize the window to your layout manually.

I hope that Filemaker are reading this and that they put in a function for this on the next version.

even though you refer to screen sizes, I think you really mean resolution. If the user is using a monitor at 800x600 you want the window to maximize, if the screen size is larger than that you want to zoom the window.

YOu need a script at opening that uses the status functions below;

status(currentscreenhight), status(currentscreen width)

then depending on the result either max or zoom.

ps any time you change layouts you also might want to run this script too.

I don't want the window to resize! I want the window to stay the same size based on a 15" monitor, the size of all of my layouts. I want the window/layout to stay the same size (15")regardless of the size of the monitor! In other words, I want the window to look like this (.) on a 15" monitor but "I DO NOT" want it to look liks this (...) on a 17" monitor and (......) on a 21" monitor. I want all layouts to stay 15" regardless of the monitor size. Does that change any of your thinking.

Thanks

Jerry was right... you want a particular resolution. A 15" display could have any number of resolutions, and a larger monitor could very well be using a resolution common on a 15" display. The physical size of the monitor has more to do with zoom than actual screen real estate, which is what you're talking about.

That said, you probably want to make each of your layouts suitable for 800x600 pixel resolution (typical on a 15" display), then follow Jerry's advice.

If I design layouts on a 1056 x 792 can I change the to say 800 x 600 if someone is using a 15" monitor, with a script.

What I mean if I run a script can it look and see what the resolution is and adjust automatically?

thanks for any advice
