February 18, 200322 yr I have a small problem to get container field to work in Max Os X. I have attached a db that shows what I loadpic.zip
February 25, 200322 yr I'm using Jaguar.4 and FMP 5.5v2. The "picture" is red; after clicking the button, it goes away. If this is not what you want to have happen and it is unique to Mac OS X, perhaps this should be reported to FileMaker, Inc.'s tech support department.
February 26, 200322 yr FM 5.5 works on OSX. Although not entirely well! I'll try it when I get to a Mac. Ken
February 26, 200322 yr Author I found the problem with container fields. These problems accrue when I do copy >paste in PC and when try the file out in OS X. Its only related to pictures not text and the picture are copied from within fm. i.e I import a picture in pc to on db now I copy this picture to another db, in PC all well and done, Mac OS 9 the picture is there but with a with background, Max OS X no picture. If I do the same but from OS X the picture will be correct in all OS. My conclusion of this is that I need to use import for all pictures to make sure that they will show up in all os. Anybody with more experience with this.
February 26, 200322 yr Hi Lee! I've been using FMP 5.5.2 under Mac OS X for almost a year, now. First under 10.1.5, currently under Jaguar.4. Native Mac OS X, not under Classic. 5.5 is a carbon app. Screen captures are at FileMaker's web site, and I uploaded several in my thread about preventing carriage returns that you participated in.
February 26, 200322 yr In what way does it not work entirely well, besides that the Toolbar is not supported yet (hopefully the next version of FMP will)?
February 26, 200322 yr Excuse my ignorence here, I have been unable to upgrade to OS10. any thing, I can not seem to get my G3 and HardDisk to accept the new OS. [color:"blue"] > Native Mac OS X, not under Classic. 5.5 is a carbon app. I think I meant Carbon and not Classic (?) - Isn't Carbon a 9.2 OS system? Lee
March 1, 200322 yr Carbon is an app that works under 9 and 10. When an app is "carbonized" it was originally designed for 9 but they have modified about 5% of the code so that it will work natively in 10. Most apps fall under this category. There are also Cocoa apps which are ONLY for OS X, and then of course there's Java, etc.
