Newbies Andy Bernstein Posted February 23, 2003 Newbies Posted February 23, 2003 We're currently using an application called Goldmine at our company to store db info. I was thinking of switching us to FM, but don't know if it meets all our needs. In Goldmine, we can filter a group of records (for example, all people in California), and then easily send these people an email. Does FM do this? If not, is there an easy way to export the found set of records and send a group email from another program like Outlook? My sense is that FM would make the data mining easier than Goldmine, but I need to be able to contact the records in groups as well. Thanks for your input, Andy
Pupiweb Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Yes, FM can "filter" groups of records *very* easily, either using a FInd or relationships, much more easily than other apps If you want to send an email to a group of found contacts you've several options: 1. run a loop and use the send mail command on each record to create an email for each contact in your default email client 2. run a loop, gather all addresses and use the send mail command to create one email for all contacts in your default email client 3. do either 1 or 2 and use an email plugin to send the email
andygaunt Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Its a plug, but hey!. eBullet will let you send emails to a group of contacts. These can be html, plain text or you can use inline text or html documents that exist on your machine. Each contact gets their own email, allowing you to customize and personalise each email with data from the contact record. Use preset templates or create your own and get results for the success or failure of each email instantly. You can even schedule the email to run when you are not there. All done from FileMaker Pro. 'We make direct mail as easy as 1,2,3!'
