On-line registration development

I am new to this board, have been creating/using FM databases in our business for a few years. We want to set up a customized on-line registration system, and think FM might be the way to go.

I am interested in some training so I can do this, or possibly a consultant who can design it with us and we can maintain/modify. Any help out there?

Thank you.

You might check out Waves in Motion (www.wmotion.com) and one of its products, CourseWizard. They are easy to work with, and their products can be customized.

Hi, reefman! The complexity of FMP online registration depends on what you need to do. For simple sign-ups, surveys, etc., FMP shold work great. Just set up your db and web pages and you're rolling as long as you don't have to encrypt anything and aren't asking for confidential stuff like credit cards and whatnot. If you are doing financial transactions or dealing with confidential information, you have to do quite a bit more.

I am a novice with the latter, but I did a little research on it. If you want to use FMP for anything secure, you will have to learn how to do SSL (secure socket layers) and learn about security certificates from companies like VeriSign. You should also read about Web Server Connector and using FMP w/Apache, et. al.

There are also pre-made packages you can buy/subscribe to if you want to have webstore-like transactions. FMP web hosts can also provide some of these services.

Right now, we're sticking to non-secure stuff.

Mmmmmmmmm, ummmmmmm. now that's solid, Jack

Well said Steve.
