oilman Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Is it possible to attached two separate value list to a single field. Example when field "product" = Pipe then value list pipe would appear in the Thickness field when field "product" = Plate then value list plate would appear in the thickness field I know this can be done with custom values but this would not be feasible because the values would total in the hundreds and the values are already in two separate database. thanks lionel
LiveOak Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Yes, in effect. What you need to do is base the value list upon a relationship. The relationship would be based upon the contents of "product" and show only those values associated with the selected product. This assumes that the values are contained in a file where each record is a product, it can't just be typed into the value list definition. -bd
Ugo DI LUCA Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Hi, if the values attached to the field belong to 2 different files... web page If it doesn't work, go to the scriptmenu and change the delay to 2 or 3 seconds. I cannot remember how it was set. There are 2 attachments I think.
oilman Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 sorry Ugo -tried opening your file with stuffit but it will not open this is what i have sofar made one relationship with each db indexing on product one call pipe one call plate made one value list based on each relationship but how do i get both value list attached to the thickness field. i know i am missing something. thanks one hard headed cajun
Ugo DI LUCA Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Here is the new attachment. What you need to have is create 2 separate fields choice 1 and choice2. Place then one over the other. See what happens...
Ugo DI LUCA Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Hi, go check the sample section for a more concise explanation of how it works.
