Can't open a file once password/groups set

Hi and thanks if you can help... (I'm using OSX 10.2.4 and FM6.04).

If FIlemaker is not open and I double-click on a database that has some defined passwords and groups, the Filemaker app itself will open, but the database file will not. Once Filemaker is open, however, double-clicking on the same database results in it opening immediately.

Interestingly, if I remove the passwords and groups (so there's no protection at all), then when I double-click on the same database, Filemaker will open (even if it is closed) first time every time.

I've fiddled with the application and document prefs, to no avail. Trashed prefs, checked permissions, run Nortons, deactivated all plugins, nothing helps. Searched the forums hasn't been fruitful.

If anyone has any ideas I would really be grateful for them - it's very annoying to have to double-click on the database *twice* just to open it!

Thanks

I've gotten very good at opening FMP first, then timing the option key when I open the file, but it's very annoying.

OS 10.2.1, FMP 6.02

I can double-click the file, and FMP will open and so will the file, but there's no way to override the default password without closing and reopening the file -- at least, none that I've found.

This is a real turkey!

Got the same problem, guess you just get tired of these issues and the lack of response from FM....so why bother to ask about it, we'll probably have to wait for the next costed upgrade to get this fixed along with so many other issues, for an extra $100 we may even get toolbars back

Here's something that might help. Set up a database that I like to call the Navigation Database. One page has buttons that will open up the designated database via a script. You will need a master password that is in all the databses you want to open. This way you only enter your password one time. This may work for your app or may not. HTH

yes, works no prob (OS X 10.2). using it for 6 months with jaguar now.

and while you are at it, add a second button to open your programmers notes/pasteboard file for the solution and a third to open FileMaker Dev database report ....
