April 23, 200322 yr Newbies Hello everyone, this forum seems quiet, hopefully i get some sort of response.. The quick overview: new job, cleaning up some messes leftover from old guy... I'm tryin to setup FMP unlimited to be served by a linux box using the apache proxypass directive (brief overview, it allows a sort of firewalling behind another web server). The reasoning is for security, FMPU security seems mostly non existant, I'm not comfortable using a 'built in' webserver that lives inside my firewall, and I hate to punch a hole through my firewall directly to this box for ths reason. I have this same setup working with about 4 other internal machines and have used proxypass without issue for years, but now for the problem... The FMPU server is on a private IP, 192.168.0.240 . In apache you setup proxypass something like this: ProxyPass /fm http://192.168.0.240 ProxyPassReverse /fm http://192.168.0.240 (I also tried several variations on the reverse stuff including the public IP of the linux server, not having a reverse directive at all, etc etc) This should allow transparent access to the internal box when I load the /fm directory on my externally visible linux box. here's the problem..it initially connects to the filemaker box, which then tries to do some wort of wierd redirect which I havent figured out how to disable, trying to tell it to load 192.168.0.240/* whenever a link is clicked. There are custom web pages on the FMPU side (which are very much needed for this solution). upgrading to latest FMPU is _not_ an option. Sadly I think that FMPU is not worth the money it costs and is a terrible approach to publishing on the web (sorry if this offends anyone here). I just need to get this up and running with what I have until my php replacement stuff is done. I've used FM for years and nave never run into this kind of issue with things until trying to do things 'out of the ordinary' with it Can anyone shed light on this subject? I have so far gotten a lot of blank stares on this and most people say "just put your FMPU directly on the web". ya .... right... not likely.
April 27, 200322 yr Did you installed FileMaker's Web Server Connector to your web server? It is 5 minutes job on Windows IIS.
