AudioFreak Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 Hi, I'm having a problem faxing directly out of my IMAC, G3, Faxstf. When I go to fax a order directly out of the computer it sometimes Unexpectedly quits all open FMP databases. I have found that if I preview the fax first and select cancel instead of send it will do this everytime. I have tried this on a new IMAC running OS X and have the same problem. My question is has anyone here had this or heard of this problem. I have tried using a external modem and the problem still exists. How should I go about solving this issue? I have tried everything I can think of with no luck : The error I receive is Type 1. Could it be an extension issue? Is it possible that somehow FM and Faxstf are trying to use the same extension and this is forcing FMP to quit? I have no clue at this point and would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance. Michael
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 Hi, I'd guess it is Extension problem. I had so many of them (and still have randomly I install a new app) on my Imac G3. You could also try to re-instal FM (not so long) in case the application got damaged.
AudioFreak Posted April 26, 2003 Author Posted April 26, 2003 Ugo, What extensions would you target on trying to fix this problem? If the problem existed all the time it probably would not be that difficult to locate. I tried reinstalling filemaker as OS 9.2 and OS X and it does the same on both platforms. Something else that occured to me, could this also be a font problem? Thanks, Michael
Ugo DI LUCA Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 Hi, well yes a font could be the problem. But start with this test first provided by Smith Micro Systems.
AudioFreak Posted April 27, 2003 Author Posted April 27, 2003 Hi, Thanks for the well thought response. I will try this on Monday when I get to work. At least now I have something to try at this point. I have posted this same question on other FMP forums in the past few months and did not recieve much help. Thanks for the help and I will keep you advised if this solves the problem. Michael
AudioFreak Posted May 8, 2003 Author Posted May 8, 2003 May have solved this problem. I ran some software on my Mac called Font Doctor. It moved 13 fonts to a seperate folder. I have not had a problem for 1 week 1/2. Fingers crossed.
AudioFreak Posted May 13, 2003 Author Posted May 13, 2003 Well it did it again so much for the font idea, Going to look for a bad extension. Suggestions? Michael
Ugo DI LUCA Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Hi, Did you asked Smith Micro System for support on this ?
dkemme Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 My suggestion would be to switch to PageSender. I did and all my problems with faxing disappeared.
