I have Filemaker Pro 4.0v1, and am toying with the idea of creating a WEB Site.

Is it possible to create a WEB PAGE with what i now have (FMP 4.0v1)??

Do i need WEB ADD-ONS??

Is there special requirements to upload these pages??

If i need other software, where do i get it/start?

help please

First you will need to upgrade (FMI website) to 4.0v3 and its latest updaters.

Next you will need to realize that a learning curve is involved which will take some time.

You should have the CDML Reference database. Search for that title on the CDML Forum and you will find a link to the db.

There are a couple of books available on Custom Web Publishing, as well as courses. You do want to do CWP and not Instant Web Publishing. Take the time to learn. Instead of buying books you can find some examples in the Sample Files Forum. These include databases and custom pages which you can plug into your Web Folder and run on localhost, as well as take apart and see what has been done. Their format files show how to use CDML tags in HTML code.

And these Internet Forums are invaluable. Visit every day. Read other developers problems. You will find that most questions you may have already have been discussed. Don't be afraid to search for keywords describing any of the problems you are facing. If you can't find the answers, ask.

Be sure and read THE thread in the CDML forum on Security which was started by Chazboi. There are security issues of which you will need to be aware.

Have fun, be patient and good luck.
