Newbies Tpaulson Posted May 15, 2003 Newbies Posted May 15, 2003 Have FM 4 on a Mac but our office has converted to Networked PC's. We need the data from FM 4 converted to...and looking for the best options. What is the best way to do this? We don't have a way to save the data to a CD on the Mac. Is there a way to transfer the files from the Mac to the PC? Can we convert from FM 4 if we bought version 6? Thanks for your help!
cjaeger Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 >FM 4 converted to...and you missed the interesting part! >Can we convert from FM 4 if we bought version 6 YES, no prob. Newer Versions of FileMkaer come with both platforms on the install CD. So you can install V 6 on the Mac, convert the files (make sure to check "use compatible graphics" on every files doc preferences, then move to PC. You could also open Mac V4 files on the PC, provided you added a ".fp3" extension. However, some imported graphics may not show as expected. >Is there a way to transfer the files from the Mac to the PC? you can network your mac with pcs. or use a zip drive or even a floppy disk. Networking: you can install a little ftp server/web server on your mac and make those files accessible for the PCs. Or transfer the files to your iDisk or a ftp-server on your network, then retrieve with PC. Or: Just email them.
