Running FMServer 5.5 on Windows 2000 server on a couple of very specific instances I ALWAYS get a server crash. Just curious if anyone else experiences these and knows why.

When I spoke to FM on both of these items, they suggested I run FM server on a Win2000 Pro machine stand-alone. Funny thing, when I moved the dbase to a Win2000 Pro machine and ran it stand-alone, the same thing happened. (I subsequently moved back to the server for file management purposes.)

1) Importing data into a file from a DBF, XLS, etc. if there are other folks in the file. This one is easy enough to work around by writing a script checking for other users in this file... Still it's annoying and according a FM Tech, shouldn't happen.

2) Complex found set with other users in the file. This one is sporatic. Most scripts run just fine with other users in the file, BUT on a couple specific ones, I get the dreaded squiggly and lost communication with host dialogue. On the server I have the blue screen of death.

I'm learning to work around these things, but they are quite annoying. Any suggestions?

If one can replicate those BSOD... I saw that maybe twice, when I've got bad video driver.

It sounds like you may have a corrupt file hosted by the server.

I haven't seen a BSOD since Windows98
