Newbies Adam S. Posted May 26, 2003 Newbies Posted May 26, 2003 When using Filemaker Pro 5 and printing labels, is there a way to direct FMP to begin printing on a specific label on the label sheet? Of ten I do not use all of the labels on a single sheet, but am unable to reuse the remaining labels on a sheet because I can't direct FMP to begin printing on a specific label on the sheet.
LiveOak Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 There are a lot of ways, none built into FM. One is to print from a separate file and create a number of records equal to the blanks + labels to be printed. Creating leading blank records sets the first label with non-blank data. You could use another file with one record per label on the sheet. Set the key field for only those labels/records you wish to print. Set the key field(s) to point to the records in the file that contains the data to be used on the labels. -bd
Lee Smith Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 Hi Adam, Brent has pointed you at one method. You might do a search of "All Forums" here for "Label" (I just did and there were quite a few threads), OR for $15.00 (if I remember right) you might just want to purchase a solution that uses Brent's suggestion, Aetiket Label Printer by: Eric Fandrich and available at this URL: http://www.fmfiles.com/dev8.html Lee
SteveB Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 However, if you are using a laser, you run a good chance of screwing up the printer. The heat from the fuser melts the adhesive where there is no label stock. I ruined a toner cartridge doing this. Steve
