EddyB Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Hi, On your search page you may have a hidden field like this: <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="-max" VALUE="25"> This will limit the search results page to show a max of 25 found records Ed.
Unable Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 I recommend that you both refer to "Max Records -Max" in your copy of the CDML Reference Database. The line EddyB suggests actually need not exist for the results currently realized. The CDML Reference Database makes a great read.
Leb i Sol Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 hidden field? how did it hide itself...? default is 25 records returned unless specified by that intentionally hidden field. and..o mr. Unable is Able he is not that talkative ....in other words read what he wrote about CDML <%= good luck now() =%>
EddyB Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Unable, I don't think my post was very clear - I wasn't suggesting he used the -Max line. I was just saying that the field might be on his page and that if it was set to 25, or as Leb i Sol says, not there at all, that would be the reason his results are limited to 25 Ed.
Unable Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 I almost phrased a sentence the same as Leb i Sol "how did it hide itself...?" but decided against it. Since the default characteristic (which has been answered on these forums sooooooo many times) also exists in the CDML Reference Database (fact is, all the tags are there), and since I am a firm believer that the CDMLRD is the developer's best friend, I just tried to share a little friendship. "... or as Leb i Sol says, not there at all..." Whereas I phrased the same sentiment, "The line EddyB suggests actually need not exist for the results currently realized." What the hell is that, chopped liver? Ok. Hemingway I'm not. Just remember,
EddyB Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 If a developer uses an application such as Claris Home Page to create there CDML pages (obviously if the developer is using an older version of FM) the hidden field is automatically added to the search page by Home Page. This is where I was coming from on this one, and this is how a hidden file can hide itself... Ed
Unable Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 Thank you EddyB for clearly explaining why I eschew such applications. By relying upon my gained knowledge and experience I can avoid the problems which arise from one's reliance upon the poor design of others. There is something to be said for self-education after all. Part of it is the ease one gains from understanding. Perhaps this is why I so strongly recomend the CDMLRD. BTW, FYI FMI no longer supports CHP. Oh yeah, I've developed in 4. and 5.
