snekkis Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 First, I'm fresh in this issue. I'm thinking about how to make a shopping cart with lots of products with FM. I will have updated pricelists from distributors in excel files, which FM treats fine, and with my db I was thinking about to generate html code and the updated prices in one go. I believe I will use GoLive to administrate the site, so for me there is the missing link, templates/code-payservice thing, I need to know more about. The payservice offers to types of service, your own authorizing on your site or linking to their payment terminal through your site. I don't see any concise template from this payment service, so I wonder if this is something you make yourself from scratch. I see you can purchase some templates for GoLive, but I'm not sure if it will meet my demand or if there are already some templates for FM users out there. Maybe there is a better way than I have pointed out here? I'm all ears!
Anatoli Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 I did 2 shopping carts in FM. I'll suggest starting with CDML reference database. FM on web is quite insecure, so better will be to use FM with Lasso.
snekkis Posted June 9, 2003 Author Posted June 9, 2003 Ok, I would like to know how you made those two, the general code, of course, if you could be kind to share it with the community. As I see the demo/sample html code from the payservice, they will give you variables which you fill in to some forms that goes to their server to execute the transaction based upon your merchant ID. I understand some of the html code that lies there, but I'm not sure how the formulas are executed to bring up the variables and values in another page. The purchase information will lie on their server, so I believe the security is counted for. But what about Agora? Is it something that can be used together with FM. And, I don't know what Lasso is?
Anatoli Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Lasso is one of the best Web Engines for FM, MySQL and probably all other database systems. http://www.blueworld.com I do not own the code and it was written in Czech Language. To just read it you have to know CDML, HTML and JavaScript. Sorry.
snekkis Posted June 12, 2003 Author Posted June 12, 2003 Ok then... I have looked around trying to find other alternatives, because I didn't like the truth about what I needed. I hate to fresh start, especially when I'm digging another software topic manual. But I see now, Anatoli, that you are right. Its good that they offer a demo of Lasso Studio then. I have also found this commercial tutorial about using Lasso and building web shop. http://www.briandunning.com/masterclass.shtml Has anyone tried this?
Anatoli Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 Brian is great, but I think the class is a bit behind: For: FileMaker Pro 4/5/6 Lasso 3.6 Lasso Studio 1.x Lasso 3.6 is great engine, but the Lasso changed thousand things in version 5 and another 500 in Lasso 6. I've found the Lasso list to be very helpful in all cases, apart of handling Central European languages. Nobody there has experience. But for everything else there are specialists.
