Exporting to desktop on all windows versions

This mostly concerns a single-user, relational db that is distributed using Filemaker developer. There are 2 files in the solution that need to be exported to tab files on the user's desktop.

The problem I am having is getting the files to consistently save to the desktop on NT/2000/XP systems, where the desktop path is based on the username (the windows username, not the filenamer one...). On these OSes, even if I set it up to export to my desktop and save the export order, when I move to a different PC, or even move the .fp5 files around on my computer, the script won't work. It either exports to the folder the filemaker files are in, or it saves to 1 directory level above that folder (wierd...).

Has anyone had to deal with this kind of problem before? If Filemaker has trouble saving to the desktop, is there a plug-in or something that could do the job?

Thanks for the help, let me know if any more information is needed,

Neal.

IMHO all paths to Windows desktop are different.

It starts usually in C:Documents and Settingsuser name

and User Name is all the time different...

Still I believe the Dialog Magic from New Millennium can handle that.

you will have to obtain the path to the user's dektop from windows registry
