Is there a way to display a report in FIlemaker so that the fields in each record that I want to display on the report are lined up in a top to bottom fashion instead of in a left to right fashion. I am trying to get for example, 5 records to disply their data on 1 page in a top to bottom fashion;

1 record with all its fields displayed top to bottom on the left side of the page, then another record with all its fields dislpayed top to bottom to the right of the previous record, then a third and so on.

Is this possible because I sure can't figure out how to do it.

More specifically, go to Layout Setup and specify the number of columns per page, then double-click the Body part on your layout and click the checkbox for "page break after every 1." (Page breaks and column breaks are the same to FileMaker.)

Hi Ron,

If your "report" is used for browse mode instead of be previewed or printed, you should have a look at a REAL Horizontal Portal, which allow to scrowl horizontally (to the infinite ?) having a top to bottom list displayed.

Check CobaltSky demo for this at :

NightWing Enterprises

I have it in one of my files, set so large that we don't even remember it's a portal !

Thank you all. I felt pretty dumb after your post Lee because that should have been obvious to me. I thank you and Fitch because your suggestions will work for me however I really was going for something to view in browse mode like Ugo mentioned. All of this has been helpful. Thank You!

Can you tell this? What if I decided that being able to just print in columns is sufficient but I have way to many fields in each record to fit on one page from top to bottom. Is the column choice no longer an option for me?
