ricardito Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 Anyone have any insights on this? Have a file with 17,000 records, it's 12.5mb. Created 4 calc fields that consist of a literal which is 4 different url's then the value in a field so they look something like this: http://www.widgets.com/1234=5678 where http://www.widgets.com/1234= is the literal and 5678 is the field value. Works fine. However... The size of the database grew from 12mb to 18.4mb! I've redone it, saved the db as csv and deleted all records then imported them... still same size. Thoughts? Thanks, r
ricardito Posted September 8, 2003 Author Posted September 8, 2003 No, no stored calc's and indexing is off (on when needed).
Lee Smith Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 Hi Ricardito, You have to tell FileMaker "Do Not Store" a calculation otherwise your file will grow the first time you do a find in that field. IMHO, a 6 meg growth in the size of a files is reall quite small. Lee
-Queue- Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 IMHO, a 6 meg growth in the size of a files is reall quite small. Especially for 68,000 additional data cartons!
