FileMaker inexplicably crashed on me a few hours ago. I was able to re-open all the files but 1. I've tried to Recover the bad file, but it's not working. I have yesterday's backup, but I did a lot of work on that particluar file today and need the current state back real bad. Any suggestions? Please?

Hi:

This is what is known as S.O.L. frown.gif

What kind of work was done? Was it development and design, or was it data entry.

If it was development, then you probably crapped out. If it was data entry, you could take a copy of your backup and import the records from the damaged file.

If anything, it's a good thing that you only lost one day's work. I've lost more than a month of work because I was stoopid and had no backup.

It was changes to layouts and design, unfortunately.

Hi,

I wouldn't know how to interpret this, but it happened to me a month ago.

I couldn't open the file anymore.

I tried to get inside from another "door", by creating a new file Test.fp5 and an open script set with :

Perform script (external- The crashed file: Open script).

It worked !!!

I saved a copy of the file, then perform a recovery. and now it works fine.

I must say that I was really surprised. Hope you'd be as fortunate.

Errr, what does SOL mean?

It's a high tech word, often associated with a null results.
