Henry Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 Hi there, now i try to create my own database design report for some analysis work. I have done the basic function which checking all the database name, field name and also field type for all fm files which is open. Now i need to improve more function, i want it to display out the field details information such as which layout contain the field and which script using the field. I know that all this function can be done by fm design report, but i want to build my own for better control. Regards, Henry
-Queue- Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 Use the FieldNames function to determine which layouts contain which fields. For the scripting portion, I wouldn't have the foggiest idea, however.
BobWeaver Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 I posted this design documentor in the samples forum: http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=51415&page=6&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=365&fpart=1 You can use this as a starting point. It documents scripts and cross references field usage. But, it has only been tested on Mac OS9 and OSX. Most of the functions should work fine on Windows, but the script documentation part of it is *very* dependant on what kind of printer driver you have. So, that part likely won't work on Windows without further debugging. If anyone wants to act as a guinea pig for Windows testing. Just let me know.
Lee Smith Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 Hi Henry, I was going to post this link the other day, actually I though I had, but maybe it didn't post due to the upgrade of the site. Anyway take a look at these tools available Here at fmfiles.com in the developer's analysis area. along with Bob Weaver's. HTH Lee
