WHERE condition

Hello to the community,

I'm brand new,so this is my silly question ???

do Filemaker support the condition 'WHERE' in a query?

If not how can I do to

SELET * FROM mytable WHERE myfield LIKE 'mystring' ?

Thank you and sorry....

Hi vronsky, welcome to the forum.

FileMaker uses query-by-example for its interface, so you go to a layout that has the field "myfield" on it, enter Find mode, and put:

*mystring*

into myfield and hit enter. At least I think that's what LIKE does, my SQL is pretty rusty.

Hi vronsky, and welcome to the list.

I see you are using FM4, but you didn't say which Operating System. So I explain how to do this on the Mac, and you will find that things are similar on the Windows platform, only the Keyboard combinations are different.

FileMaker has an excellent Online Help (Menu Bar - Help), that you will want to familiarize yourself with. On the Mac, you can access it using these keyboard commands, Cmd ? or the Help button on your Keyboard.

For an explanation of how to use the Symbols in the Find Menu (below the Rolodex on the Left), or what to type in the Field (or Fields) in Find Mode, Open the Online Help, Click on the Index, and then type in finding records- Finding text in records or finding records and then go to the sub category - Finding text in records

Hi vronsky, if you're used to using SQL and you have FM4, consider getting rid of that and going to FM7. Its interface may look more familiar to you.
