Adding Text Area Field to a database

I am posting text area input to a database. The posted text ends up with unwanted return characters in it in the database, despite the fact that the text is entered in the text area input without return characters.

A Regex expression substituting out all possible returns, or end-of-field whitespace, from the input text (prior to database posting) does not seem to solve the problem. The final database text has return characters in it. Only for text area boxes, however.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

The session variable I loaded for later database record update purposes had multiple blank elements following the element I wanted to add. These elements were 'reserved' for possible additional text items as may be required during the input process.

Since the parent record was the only id assigned in the 'FMNew' for all of these 'empty' add objects, the effect was to add return characters to the end of the already existing field in the already existing related child record.

The solution was to create the new field-add object only if the text was not blank, or, alternatively, to unset these unnecessary reserved elements just prior to adding to database.

Thanks for your time in looking at this.
