Emails getting lost

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm trying to use the "email" capability of FileMaker but my messages keep getting lost somewhere between FileMaker and Netscape. Here is what I've checked so far:

*I've checked the script and it is correct (same script works on a Mac computer).

*I've checked the "Send Mail" entry in FM help. There is a [Mail] entry in my win.ini file.

*SMTP is enabled.

I think it's possible that I have to somehow tell FM that Netscape is my default mail application, but I can't figure out how. Does anyone know how to make the two programs talk to each other?

Thanks so much,

Tiger

Hi, Tiger! FileMaker Pro uses the default e-mail appication that is set for your computer... usually something like Eudora or Outlook. What program launches when you double-click a website that has a mailto: email address on it? You have to change your computer's setting so it will use the program you want. FileMaker cannot be instructed to choose an app. Sorry, I don't know how to do that on Windows, but it shouldn't be too hard to find out... probably in the HELP for default e-mail application or something.

Once that's done, have the application open when you execute the script and you should be in business.
