Newbies RobT Posted July 29, 2004 Newbies Posted July 29, 2004 When accessing FileMaker through its IWP interface with Firefox (9.0.1) I get a message saying it is optimised for Safari and Explorer. Does anybody know why the interface - partcularly buttons, even simple layout change buttons - do not work. They work fine in Safari and Explorer. However we use Firefox a lot because it allows online editing (a la Explorer 6 on a PC) which neither Safari or Explorer 5.2 support, and it supports our inhouse groupware application (TUTOS) better.
Steve T. Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Hi, Rob! AFAIK, FM pre-7 only supported Internet Explorer officially... we had problems with old versions of Netscape Navigator especially. I failed "History of Web Browsers 101" but I think the old Netscape was based on Mozilla. Firefox is made by the folks who make Mozilla, so I'm not terribly surprised that there are issues. Safari was probably added for Mac users since Microsoft dropped development of IE for Mac (stopped at 5.2). If you're a Mac user, you might try Camino which is also made by the Mozilla folks but designed for OS X (I haven't tried it w/FM stuff yet either), or there's always other browsers, too. --ST
