August 12, 200421 yr Hi. Relatively new to version 7 so sorry if this doesn't make sense. When creating or editing a relationship in the graph, the table menus above the field lists are dimmed. So I cannot create a (say) in-depth relationship. In every available documentation, these menus are not dimmed. Could anyone explain the reason why? Thanx.
August 12, 200421 yr Are you refering to the Edit Relationship dialog box. If so, you can edit a given relationship but you can not chage the tables used in the relationship. You create relationships in the graph. By in-depth relationship do you mean one that is 2 or more tables away? If so, add TO's for those tables. Make relationships from one TO to the next. When using use the name of the TO for the name of the relationship.
August 12, 200421 yr Author Thank you, Ralph. I must be missing something. Why do I have to create relationships between occurences of tables that are already related through other tables??
August 13, 200421 yr Sorry for the late response. Was out yesterday afternoon and evening. You don't unless the relationship path would become circular or closed. I may not understand your question. What do you mean by in-depth relationship? One important thing to remember about the relationship graph is that it is not an E-R diagram.
August 16, 200421 yr Newbies Trying to create a database for contacts. Using several tables and create relationships so that I can access data in a variety of ways. However I can only search on one table at a time. I have been fiddling with the relationships for a whole day now - what am I doing wrong? Also, I cannot find any info anywhere on how exactly to create togs. Thanks Yinunit
August 16, 200421 yr You can only search one table at a time. You can use relationships to access data or go to records in another table once the desired records have been found in the current one. What is your specific question(s) regarding relationships/TOGs? There is some info here and I know you can find more if you search for TOGs either on here or google.
