FMP/FMS version compatibility chart?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Me again! On the hunt for some sort of table/chart/matrix listing interoperability between various flavors of FMS and FMP (client). For example, I have it in my head that FMS3 works with FMP3 and 4. And surely FMS5 works with FMP5. But does FMS5 work with FMP3 and 4? How 'bout Servers 6 and 7?

For the curious, here's the "why"...

My all-Mac office is now humming along fairly well with FMS3 and FMP4 clients. (Thanks to the assistance of this forum!)

We're now on the cusp of establishing virtual offices for some of the staff. Like any other undertaking with such a Rip Van Winkle setup, the prospect of upgrading this or that comes up. Naturally, we don't want to risk changing too much at once, but features of later FM versions may help with such projects.

Thanks,

--Chris

(Why am I working on the WEEKEND?!)

fms3 works with .fp3 files. (fmp3 and fmp4 use .fp3 files)

fms5(.5) works with .fp5 files. (fmp5, fmp5.5 and fmp6 use .fp5 files)

fms7 works with .fp7 files. (fmp7 uses .fp7 files)

To upgrade, you have to convert your files to the new file format and fix any issues that might pop up. There is no good way to convert back down to older file formats.
