10 for $999 or 100 for $2,499!!?? No inbetween??

If we wish to web-publish, am I correct in understanding that our only options are those? I am unsure if we would go over 10 consecutive on-line users but I know we don't need 100! 15-20 would have been more reasonable, FileMaker. wink.gif

They could have broken it into three categories, I think. So if I predict 15-20 simultaneous max onlilne (with shopping cart and credit cards), I'm looking at $2,499! Is my frustration with 'no middle-ground' showing. crazy.gif

Don't know if you would qualify, but govconnection.com really makes it affordable. I am an edu though.

There is upgrade pricing available too. 6 Unlimited to Server Advanced = $999, Server 7 to Server Advanced = $1500. Education pricing is even better.

Server 7 to Server Advanced = $1500.

Hmmm, Server 7 is 999 plus upgrade = same price!?

I'm mostly kicking myself (and I'm angry at myself) for a hasty decision, which needed to be made quickly and I blew it. I'll probably be eating this error myself. I'm not angry at FM - just disappointed that they haven't allowed for 'medium' sizes - goodness, even McDonalds has a small, medium and large. I strongly feel an intermediate upgrade/price break would be more 'friendly' of FM. Nope, no gov here ... just simple small business.

Ah well, some lessons come cheap; others are costly and some we regret for a lifetime. It won't be my first incorrect decision and I'm sure it won't be my last.

I have read everything I can find and I am still unclear ... if we have 6 people in our office network with 5 copies of FMPro7 (and one Dev7 copy), does that mean that only 4 online web hits can happen simultaneously with Server 7 while our staff is sharing over the network?

Today, I spent 6 hours trying to resolve a network issue - opener wouldn't open Host this morning (Vaughan's Opener)!! I finally found it - Host computer had somehow changed it's IP address!!!! I remember reading that it should always be 'static IP' but that meant nothing to me then ... it sure means something now. crazy.gif I changed it to static.

Back to Server 7 ... 10 then next jump is 100! Well, you won't find anyone that loves FM more than I, but it still twirks me a bit and I will do the correct thing, and let them know it. wink.gif

The cheapest non-edu/gov way to get FMSA is if you have a copy of FileMaker 6 Unlimited as for $999 you can upgrade to FMSA and get a copy of FMP until Oct.

Thank you Daniel. I will certainly check into that. Maybe I'll try to change our business status first - it might be easier. I feel more 'social service' or 'educational' by the moment - yeah, that's it ... smile.gif

There is a guy on ebay who has them for a really good price. I just bought one from him. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...sPageName=WDVW. He bought pre-orders from a company who went out of business. He told me that he is selling them for 999, but he actually took my offer for 975. And the best part is that I already got my tracking number and should be getting the software in a couple days. he has 2 copies left at that price if you or anyone wants it. they are fully registerable and sealed. he has the feedbacks to back up that hes legit.
