andyuk Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 Can you please suggest the easiest/best way to disable a menu command (in this case Duplicate Record). Will this require a script? And could it be based upon a Log-in Password? Many thanks.
Lee Smith Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 It's based on the privileges you allow with Passwords. The actual privilege is the "Create Records" in the Edit section. You would need to have at least one password for Full Access, and then you create a password to limit the users. Keep in mind, the New Record would then have to be scripted with a button. HTH Lee
andyuk Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 I tried scripting a button for a new record, but without success. When connecting with the password for limited access, it still would not allow the New Record button to work. I tried the Script command New Record/Request. Can you suggest the type of script I would require that would allow for the creation control previously mentioned, but would allow the creation of new records. Many thanks.
Ender Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 I think if you disable creation of records for a password, manual AND scripted creation won't work. Try allowing creation of records, but change the Available menu commands to Editing Only or Minimal.
andyuk Posted September 27, 2004 Author Posted September 27, 2004 Ender You would appear to be absolutely correct. And I thank you very much. I would still be interested to know if Scripting could be used to disable certain menu options. I would ideally like to be able to just stop the Duplicate Record option. But changing the menus available will get me started and do for know. Any other gems of knowledge would be gratefully received. Thank you
Ender Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 You can't disable menus with scripts. You should look into SecureFM with MenuMagic from New Millennium for more customizable menu security. Try the demo.
