I have a small problem that I need some help with. I have two tables and have joined them together in a relationship. I can pull information from the 2nd table without any problems and have it populate the fields in the first but what I want to do is; if it can't find the information then when I fill out the 1st form, I want that information to automatically go into the related table (2nd table). I saw that when I did this that there was checkbox that is suppose to allow this (Create a related record) but when I checked this, it still does not create the record in the 2nd table. Am I doing something wrong or does Filemaker 7 not support this and if they don't support this then why is it there?

Auto-creation of related records only works when you enter new records via portal, script a Set Field of a related record that doesn't currently exist, or enter data into the key field of the relationship and then enter data into the related fields (if the key field is an auto-entered result, then you only need enter data into related fields).

To put the related fields on your layout, add a field and specify it to use the relationship, then select a related field to display.

Welcome!

I am not sure I understand your question. Normally we use a portal in the first table to look at the fields of the second table. A row in the portal contains the data in a record of the second table. When the Allow creation of related records is checked an empty row is added at the end of the portal. When data is entered into this row a new related record is created in the second table.

The 2nd and 3rd options don't require a portal. You only need to have related fields on the layout for the 3rd one also.
