Salesman0Gil Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 Hello, Just got V 7. I was looking forward to the Web Publishing, wish is a lot easier then 5.5. My Questions 1) I have buttons that on my desktop, open other files. That tend to be a realtional. They do not work online. Is there a way for that to happen? 2) I have fields set to do Lookup, Stock# makes Item etc.. This does not work online. Any way to make this happen?? Thanks Salesman
Reed Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 1. Many script steps are not web-compatible. Check your scripts using the indicate web compatibility checkbox in scriptmaker. 2. When you want to look up a value on the web, you have to use the submit button or commit script step to trigger the lookup
Salesman0Gil Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 What makes a script web-compatible?
Reed Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 Whether FMI decides to make it work with the web or not, or how difficult it is to make that happen. Obviously certain script steps, like open file..., excute SQL, or allow toolbars don't really make sense for a browser, but there are other unsupported steps, like show custom dialog, or change password, which should be possible, but FMI hasn't implemened them for the web (yet) Dana
Salesman0Gil Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 So is there a way, to give the illusion of opening files, ie. switch from this file to another file??
Reed Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Just add a file reference to the other file and create a layout for a table in that file in your web file. You have to have IWP on for both files, but the interface can all be in one file.
