I compiled a small fm db of architectural details using fm 2.1. The claris XTND image import plug-in has given up the ghost and I got fm7 now.

I can't find a way to upgrade the file to fm 7

I don't have any intermediate versions of fm. Can s.o suggest a solution ?

ie an accessible place to get a demo version of an intermediate fm version to use to open the old file etc

I think you need to convert FM 2.1 to FM 3 first. You may be able to find a copy of FM 3 on eBay.

I think you can open fm 2.1 in v 6 and then convert it to v7. At least v6 will work on FileMaker Pro 1.0v2 files. There is a full working demo of v6 on FileMakers site that you can download, and use to do this. If you have a problem, let me know and maybe I can convert them to 6 for you.

I have the same problem here... I have a FM2 database and want to

convert to a newer version.

Anyone know of a trial version of FM6 anywhere?

There was still a version available at FileMaker Inc the last I checked.

There is a trial of FM 5.5 (Mac OS X) that shows up searching on "FileMaker" at www.download.com. You guys didn't specify which platform you are on.
