Problem With Remote Admin Via Server Admin

Featured Replies

I just inherited a little FMP 7 environment (server with 5 clients) to admin. When I try to access the server via the Server Admin utility I can't log in, even with the correct password that's been given to me. I can see the server just fine and can log in by pressing the "ok" button (no password in the field) as a guest I guess, but when doing so I can't see any info like the DB files etc.

Is there any way to reset the Administrator's password short of having to reinstall the server? If I have to reinstall, what happens to the DBs we have published to the server?

Please help me out FMP gurus--Thanks in advance!

on the server machine, open the registry editor, navigate down to where the filemaker server properties are and delete the AdminAuth key.

Now open the admin utility on that local machine and set the Administration options you need.

This can only be done from the server machine itself because deleting that key disables remote admin, so once it's gone you can log in remotely with the admin utility.

Great--Thanks for the reply. Do I need to stop the FMP service before deleting that reg key?

Thanks again =)
