Hi,

I was wondering whether it's possible for FM7 Developer and FM7 Server or advanced Server to be installed on the same Windows XP box. My XP Box has 512mb ram and 80+GB, i'm just using it for testing really. so, can I install fm7 server on the same machine as fm7 developer or will there be problems?

again I'm just using this for some testing..

I'm hoping to connect my mac to the windows xp box. Can i just plug my mac into the windows box via the tcp/ip and connect to fm7 Server?

is this viable?

thanks so much for the help in advance,

sincerely,

Both can be installed, but if you want to connect FMD7 to FMS7 on the same box, you might (will) run into problems.

As to connecting the Mac: if you're not using a hub or switch in-between, you need a cross-over ethernet cable. Hubs are very cheap, why not get one?

Hi,

thanks for the response. Sorry if I wasn't clear, I will only be using FMS7 OR FMD7, but not at the same time. So, i'll do testing with my mac and maybe another windows box i have.... and then I will do some dev with with FMD7 but not at the same time.

Regarding connecting. I have a wireless network setup, which is with Bellsouth , my ISP, both are on that network. But it's using 2LiveWire and although I have 3 systems on this, i have not had success sharing files between them, i believe it's an extra fee (grrrrrrr), which i'm not ready to pay .. unless i absolutely have to , so i was trying to use a cheaper approach.... the hub is a good suggestion and perhaps i'll look into that..

The Reason why I asked if I could just connect my ethernet cable from mac to winbox is because I have been able to do this with Microsoft's Remote Desktop. I just plug it into the mac and then open a remote desktop session on the mac, type in the ip of my winxp box and voila' I'm connected to it.... so I wonder if i could do the same thing with FMS7.

now i'll go install fms7 on the xp box.

thanks,

sincerely,

Thanks for the response.

According to the documentation it does say that.

But on their web site they said Windows XP it worked with.

So, even the test version i cannot use to run on my windowsXP box?

if you or someone could please verify, that would be great....

thanks,
