Newbies carlhp Posted January 13, 2005 Newbies Posted January 13, 2005 I just got the damaged file message and went to run recovery to extract recent data to import into a backup but the recovery command won't run. I'm able to run it to the point where I name the recovered file and save it. At that point, I get a very rapid dialog box that I can't read, then nothing. No message about blocks recovered, etc. I've run recovery before on files with no problem (under Mac OS and Win98) but wonder if there could be a problem running it on XP. I can try recovering to FMP5.5 or to 4 on Mac OS9. Thanks for any suggestions. BTW, we're a small non-profit, hence the old FMP and why I can't just send it off to FMP for recovery on the hope they can do something. Also, I'm reasonably proficient with FMP and spreadsheets.
carlyle Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Can you try recovering it on another computer? Copy the file to another computer (with FP installed) and run the recover command from there. Sometimes this works for me...sometimes I just have to go back my backups. Good luck!
