strange character showing up on fm side

Featured Replies

I thought I saw this question on this forum already, but for the life of me I can't find it.

Here's the problem...

Sometimes when a carriage return is entered on an IWP page via the web, an unkown character shows up (the little rectangle). It only shows up when viewed in Filemaker, and it doesn't happen all the time - which I find strange.

Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can prevent it?

I'm using IE 6 with windows xp pro.

Thanks,

John

Hi JohnJohn,

I believe this rectangle means that there is a hard return in the text you entered (similar to starting a new paragraph).

Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong! smile.gif

I'm getting this problem too. The trouble is, we're using a mixture of FileMaker clients and web clients via IWP to enter text (which will include returns) and FileMaker to print out.

We can't have the printouts appearing with the little squares, so what's the solution?

Take a look at this:

I've seen the problem myself but haven't attempted to fix it so I don't know if the solution listed above actually works. I assume that it does.
