I've had the same problem, and it is very annoying. Whenever a portal breaks across more than one page it behaves in unexpected ways. I've had it create up to two blank pages randomly even though it is set to slide up when printing. Even using the scroll bar doesn't avoid the problem because that won't print properly. This whole area is one where the FM people need to reconsider the functionality. It's not very friendly in its current state if you have an unknown number of results.

I see two ways to print portal data. One is to create a layout based on the TO in the relationship (printing directly from the TO). This is good for complex lengthy data. The other is to copy the data from the portal rows to a single field (see my post under Layouts forum). This is better for simpler data and is ideal if you want to print the data from different portals on one sheet of paper.
