1616 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Is this possible I have a field called criteria complete, i have copied it several times IN THE SAME RECORD i was wondering if you could have multiple entries so i could have yes to one instance of the field and no in another, or do i have to make a number of new fields

andygaunt Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Hi - If you use the same field on a layout multiple times, it will display the same information in it. Now, you could create a repeating field (rather not, but you might want this) and then show a specific repetition on the layout and this WOULD allow you to have different info in each repetition. Usually, you create the number of fields required. Now, onto the bigger question. If you start repeating information on a record, oyu may wnat to look at creating a related table so you do not have multiple copies of the same field per record. HTH
1616 Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 OK thanks very much i think i will make a new field for each, but could you tell me if there is a way i could hide certain fields on a record based on a calculation. Example I have badge 1 which has three criteria Badge 2 has 1 criteria I have three fields called complete one, complete 2 ,complete 3 I have a portal so when i type the badge name in, the criteria for that specific badge appear on the record how could i make it so for example for if i type in badge one only complete 1 would be showing as there is one criteria. And if i type in badge 2 and therfore 3 criteria all 3 complete fields will appear hope i explained this well enough, thanks very much
