Newbie Question: FM with FrontPage

Featured Replies

  • Newbies

Thanks in adavnce. I want to allow prospective customers to fillout an online form, linked to an FM file.

How can I use FrontPage with FM, or publish from FM to a FrontPage website. Do I need FM Server or Adv Server to do this?

You need server advanced to do this. Or you can use something like cafe PHP. Either way, you'll still have to modify your FrontPage form to communicate with a filemaker database.

Yes, Unfortunaltey, neither Dreamwaever, GoLive, nor Frontpage have the nifty little buttons to connect to a FM db. But, If you've got the cash to blow, I suggest getting FMServer advanced and lasso to boot, then you have to learn LDML, which is super easy.

Or you can use FX.php or the like to connect to your DB. I've heard that you DON"T need FMSA for that, but I couldn't verify that information so I'd look into it if I were you.

along the same lines as this question, I have FMP7 adv, and I want to use smarty php to connect my html pages to my DB, will php connect directly to FMP7 adv?

I'm still really new to this whole process, still trying to get all of the information I can.

ANY help is appreciated

(also does FMP have built in session management and tracking?)

PHP will talk directly to FMSA. It returns data in an XML format.

All the best.
