Salesman0Gil Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Is there a way to change your default password? Whis is to say your password defaults to what you used last time, and only on your computer?
Ted S Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I don't think there is such a thing as a "default password". Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a password? You can have the system enter a automatically enter a User Account account and password. File -> File Options. I suppose you could also have a script that would run on file opening and have it check the IP address or maybe the MAC address and reject everyone but you. I think I'm missing something in your question.
Salesman0Gil Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 No you did not miss anything. I was hoping to have something to turn on and off. Right now I'm in development of some things and running in to some problmes http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=157709&page=0&vc=#Post157709 which requires a lot of opening the same file. And it is getting annoying to put my password in every 5 min. People are still using it though, so I can't just turn on guest and let people go. Thought it would be a good development trick to be able to just enable a default password, and then when done dis-able it.
Wim Decorte Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 you could use External Authentication for this if you have your development files on FileMaker Server. (one of the nice benefits of being FSA: you get a 3-user license to FMS Advanced).
Salesman0Gil Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 exactly what does that mean? a 3 user license. Is that for Server Advanced? How does that relate to Pro?
Ender Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 The 3-user license is for Server Advanced and comes with Developer 7. It is included so you can test the functionality of your solution in a server environment. It is meant only for testing.
