Open up layout from another file?

Featured Replies

Can i make a button that will open up a layout from another table in another file? When i use the "go to layout" button it only lets me choose from layouts in the current table/file. Do I have to use a calculation (don't know how to do this...)?

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi chasm24,

You must define a File Reference to this other file (File > Define > File Reference). Place a table occurence of it in your relationship graph (select bottom/left icon in tables/relationships). Then you can create a layout based upon this other file and Go To Layout[ ] will then work. wink.gif

No, that will not work. The only way to open a layout in another file is to call a script in the other file that goes to the layout. Or else use applescript.

Thanks for the catch, Bruce. I create layouts to other files directly within my main file. I never create them in the related files. My error. I didn't read the post carefully enough. wink.gif
