June 3, 200520 yr Hi folks. I did a dumb thing. I made a script that is now closing the application as soon as I attempt to log in. Anyone know what key or key combo prevents opening scripts from running in FMP 7? I can't even remember how to do it with FM6. Thanks in advance. John
June 3, 200520 yr Author I don't think either of those is doing the trick. I've tried Ctrl, Alt, Tab. Nothing. Maybe I'm doing it incorrectly.
June 3, 200520 yr Create another file and relate to the offending one (File Reference). Create a TO of it in your graph. Place a field from the offending file on your new file layout. This will cause your other file to open without running the startup scripts. ps, I've never had to do this but I've read several times that it works so it's worth a try. And it seems these suggestions were for prior versions but should work for 7 also.
June 3, 200520 yr I've always used the Esc key. The trick is there is a small window of time from when the file opens to when it starts executing the startup script. For this, as soon as I start to open the file, I rapidly repeatedly keep pressing the Esc key until I see the main screen and confirm that it hasn't run the startup script. If you've placed the 'Allow user Abort [On]' step in your startup, then the Esc key thing won't work. Then it's time to try what MoonShadow has suggested.
June 3, 200520 yr Yeah. I assumed he'd tried the multiple, rapid-fire [esc] so Allow User Abort[] was probably off. I always feel like such a fool rapidly hitting the [esc] ... it's as if I've been just too darned stupid to figure out EXACTLY when system will look for it but I simply have never figured out the timing. So I continue to just hit it immediately, rapidly as soon as I activate. I should have mentioned this, thanks.
