June 3, 200520 yr Just wanted to know if it is possible to create something like the rating option you see on websites like netflix / blockbuster, where if you click on a row of stars, you can enter the star rating for a movie. Wanted to use this feature for a multiple choice application, where by I can ask reviewers to rate the question or can ask students to rate the questions. I believe the rating on html pages is done using javascript. Can we use javascript in filemaker? Are there any other options to enter the same kind of data in the same visually pleasing manner?
June 3, 200520 yr Do you mean like you can do here too. LOL Actually, you can do this in version before Custom Function came on the scene. In fact, I remember a Tread similar to yours 6 months ago, which means it was probably a Year and One Half. I just did a search for [color:"blue"]" Stars " (notice the spaces between the quote and the word and go 75 hits. Search = [color:"blue"] All Forums Keywords = [color:"blue"] " Stars " Weeks = [color:"blue"] 0 HTH Lee
June 4, 200520 yr Yep, that was one of the 75 returned. Had I wanted to outright given them the one link, I would have done that. The object here is show them how to fish. Lee
June 5, 200520 yr When the postee has given enough information and I know a link which will answer their specific question without wading through 75 posts, I'm going to provide it. How do we KNOW they haven't already tried searching for it? 75 posts is no 'pinpoint' or assistance as I see it. Personally, I have searched for information on Forums and, even when entering multiple criterias, I've gotten 150 hits which have to be perused. It would be nice if someone pointed me to a specific answer if they know it (and they have at times, bless their hearts). ALL of our time here is precious; the postee is no different. So I agree with you in theory, Lee and good on you for taking your time to teach them to fish. But after they've posted, I'll help them however I can - including pinpointing threads which specifically fit their needs. You continue to teach them to fish and I'll continue pointing them to the best fishing holes if I know them.
June 5, 200520 yr Author Many thanks for moon shadow. twas extremely helpful. Thanks to Lee for the "phishing" lesson. I had tried that before, didn't help much. But I will keep that in mind before I post next time.
