bp_travis Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Hi there. I am looking for a way to put some databases online so people can input info into them and it comes back to me. I do not want to use instant web publishing since I dont have a server. Any good methods anybody can sugest? Thanks
Steve T. Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Hi, b! Welcome to FMFORUMS! It probably depends on what you're doing, how busy your site will be, what kinds of data, how much you'd want to spend, how much tech do you know or want to learn, whether or not you already have a site and ISP or web host, etc. But assuming we're just playing "What's your favorite?", I'd say I'm a big fan of PHP/MySQL running on Mac OS X. We're even using old iMac/350 machines for this and doing it "in house". We don't have a synchronization system in place yet, so we just export from MySQL into FileMaker whenever we need to work with the data. --ST
bp_travis Posted June 27, 2005 Author Posted June 27, 2005 Let me elaborate more. I would like it so I can have online forms that get filled out by people and submited to my database that would be stored on a server, from where I can later download that info. Can anyone give me some info on how to do this?
