Newbies Ptit_Chris Posted June 30, 2005 Newbies Posted June 30, 2005 Question. I am planning on purchasing FMP7, but I had a question first. Does it come with Avery label templates I really need to know this b4 I purchase it. I downloaded the trial version and it did not come with it so I'm not sure if I will purchase it if it does not work with it. I need the avery template for the business cards (5371, 5372, 5376, 5376, etc). If it does not come with it, I need someone to tell me what the dimensions are for the custom label for the business cards (for name tags)... THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I would appreciate a quick response, it's kinda urgent!
Lee Smith Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 It comes with several Avery labels, and it has 5371 among them. 1). You can download a full working copy of FileMaker (30 days), and check out all of the features first hand. 2). You will probably need to tweak any label that you choose anyway in order to have them print to a specific printer. They have plenty of flexibility, so it isn't hard to do. But, as I said before, try it, you will like it. HTH Lee

I already downloaded the trial version and it did not seem to come with the Avery labels in it. ... strange.
DykstrL Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 The labels do not come that way in FileMaker. Create a new layout and select "label" as the layout type. You will then be given a list of the predefined label setups, or you can specify your own dimesnions with the custom label setup.
Newbies Ptit_Chris Posted June 30, 2005 Author Newbies Posted June 30, 2005 I realize that. That's exactly what I'm saying. In the Creat a new layout option I select Label as the layout type, next, but then there are is no scrolldown option to get the Avery's from a liste. Where that box would normally have the list of labels it says that no labels are installed. That's what I dont understand.
Lee Smith Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 I don't think the Demo was crippled in any way. I recall that sometimes Window Applications default to "Read Only", which you have to change at the Finder Window (on a Mac) by clicking on the Application and Get Info.
awcase3rd Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Ptit_Chris, Lee is correct. There is the option for the kind of avery label you need. Even if it is not you can still create a layout formated to print on avery labels. This is very simple to do. I work for a company that does alot of mailings and I use the template for avery labels when we print to a different kind of label. Keep trying it is there and it can do what you need. -Allen
LaRetta Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 It says no labels are installed? Hmmmm, never seen that ... do you have a printer installed and set as default printer? FM needs to know the printer before it can create your labels. Take a look at File > Print Setup and make sure your printer settings are correct there.
