Hi,

I'm trying to convince a client of a Filemaker stand alone app solution for a project I'm working on. Can anyone point me to some apps developed using developer so I can show them an example of what the thing is capable of?

Runtimes or Standalone use a special extension, so you will find the RunTime Engine sometimes looking for one you have already had open.

The program is supposed to be an offline version of their online ecommerce product catalog. The idea is that they can easily download a cvs file with their product database into this app and then burn it to cd and distribute it like a multimedia product catalog. Is it possible to make autorun discs with filemaker developer?

All Developer will really do for you is to attach the database engine to your application, so that a user doesn't need to have Filemaker on his machine. The autorun function has nothing to do with FM, and is merely a 1 line file (at least on Windows) that starts an .exe running.

Developer can create a kiosk, which I would personally stay far away from, but you'll need to provide all the user navigation. A better choice would be Secure Menu from New Millenium or Dacon's Menu Control since you'll need the same navigation as you would for a kiosk. Either of these products will do more for 'usabilty' than

anything else you'll do.
