Group by One Field but Display Another?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble trying to build a particular report. Perhaps this will seem like a really simple problem to you FM wizards, but I'd definitely appreciate any help you can offer.

I'm trying to create a report that shows:

An Hour

-- A Segment

----- And Any Guests Under That Segment

The trick is that instead of being stuck with the phrase "Segment 2", the user must be able to modify that label name to whatever he/she wants.

My initial thought was to have a "lines" table. This table has a row for each hour, segment, and contact. While there are numeric hour & segment fields for grouping purposes, the user-modified 'DisplayName' is to be shown on the report.

However, whenever I group by hour, I cannot display the DisplayName field! Only the Hour field may appear. The same goes for Segment grouping.

Perhaps this is impossible to do within a sub-summary, but I can't seem to think up an alternative. Is this whole "Lines" table a wrong approach? Or can I display a non-grouping field within a sub-summary section and I'm just doing it wrong?

Thanks in Advanced!

Display Name field you can see only for first record of group.
