Looking For Email Plugin

Featured Replies

Hello.

I'm looking for an email plugin that will run of Server Advanced.

Currently all Send Mail script steps use what ever Email program there is on the local computer.

Is there one that would work of the server, with its own SMTP engine?

Not sure how to do that with a FMP plugin maybe email troi, they do that sort of thing but if I were you I would do it with perl. Go to www.cpan.org for more info.

Salesman,

I'm not aware of a server side SMTP plugin for FileMaker. There are a few client side plugins, I've used SMTPit from CNS and would heartily recommend it.

The disturbing part of client side plugins is the thought of deploying and maintaining them on all of the client PCs but if you're using FM Server this problem can largely be eliminated with FileMaker Server's ability to automatically install and update client plugins.

I've heard of SMTPit before. How do you have FMServer auto install plugins? I've seen the auto update settings before. I just never knew that could be done.

Take a look at the CNS website. They have an article there that shows you how to make FMS install plugins in general.
