crebma Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I don't know exactly what's going on,but I made a portal just so I could make sure things are going the way I'd like them to, and it's showing related records that do not exist. Ex: On a layout showing values from table A, there is a portal showing related values from B. These are B1, B2, and B3. But when I look on The layout showing B's values, they don't exist. I even deleted all records from table B, and they still show up. Then i put a butotn in the potal that says "Go to Related Record", and it pulls up table B's layout with nothing in it, showing 0 records. What on Earth is going on here?!?!?! Amber
IdealData Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Are you sure you're using fields from the same relationship as the portal ? Coz, that's the only way they work.
crebma Posted October 2, 2005 Author Posted October 2, 2005 Yes, I'm sure. I'm uploading a copy of the database, less employee info, so you can see what I'm talking about. Keep in mind that this project is unfinished, and that nothing works navigationally yet, but look at layout 8. The red square goes to the related record. schedule.fp7.zip
crebma Posted October 2, 2005 Author Posted October 2, 2005 Another interesting tidbit: I added a delete portal row button, and it will delete that row, but if you go to another server record and then go back, the row you deleted will suddenly exist again.
LaRetta Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 You have a clean relationship in the graph from Server to Save. Everything is as expected ... except your results. Your field data-types, portal (and field) relationships, layouts, etc. are all fine. I created a new table layout of Save, added records, fields - new records add fine (it appears) but FM is very confused here, saying Save has no records but there are (were) and the index (or something) is hanging onto them. I hope you have a backup copy. I've seen this type of corruption ... I wish my news was better. Your Save table needs to be deleted and re-added (but I wouldn't recommend it). It should be trashed. You could try various things but I wouldn't touch this file again with a 300' pole.
crebma Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 Well, I figured as much, hahahaha. I just ended up cloning the file and and importing all the data except for the save table, and that one works fine. Thanks!! Amber
